Calothamnus quadrifidus ia a tall ornamental Australian native shrub with grey-green needle like acicular leaves and a mass of spectacular red cylindrical flowers that bloom in abundance from late spring through to summer. This highly ornamental shrub is ideal for screening, hedging, windbreaks and is bird attracting. Quadrifidus is especially useful for controlling soil erosion and is an excellent specimen for beachside areas, roadside plantings and rural properties. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded position in well drained soil. Tolerates coastal conditions, wind and drought. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact habit and encourage healthy new growth.
