Common Astartea
Astartea scoparia is a medium sized shrub with an open, upright habit and is native to Western Australia, naturally occurring in sandy or winter-wet areas and along watercourses from Lancelin to Albany. This bushy plant produces fine needle-like aromatic foliage and masses of white star shaped flowers throughout the summer months. Great for coastal plantings where it helps to stabilise soil, native gardens and wetland revegetation projects. Prefers a sunny position with moist, well drained sandy or loam soil but can tolerate most soil types and small periods of drought. Astartea scoparia grows to a height of 1.8m and a width of 1.5m.
